Altoona, Pennsylvania, Habitual Offender Lawyer

If you have been arrested for DUI and this is your third offense in the past 10 years, you will be facing a number of very severe penalties. Obtaining skilled and effective criminal defense representation needs to be a top priority. Creating a solid defense against a third DUI charge requires experience, effective criminal defense strategies and a thorough investigation of the facts of your case.

Our State College multiple DUI attorneys have decades of combined criminal defense experience. We are committed to providing you with an effective defense that will exploit every weakness in the prosecution's theory of the case.

What Are the Penalties For a Third DUI?

In Pennsylvania, a third DUI conviction within a 10 year period will result in the following penalties:

  • Mandatory minimum of 10 days in jail, with a maximum of 6 years
  • Fine of between $500 and $10,000
  • Driver's license suspension of one year to 18 months
  • One year with an ignition interlock device on your car.
  • Full drug and alcohol assessment

The severity of the consequences you face is dependent on which of three tiers you fall in. The tiers are separated based on a number of factors that include:

  • What was your BAC?
  • Did property damage occur?
  • Was anyone injured?
  • Did you refuse to have your BAC tested?
  • Did you use any controlled substances?

The determination of which tier's penalties you will face is automatic and many people are often surprised at what sort of facts can have them facing the harshest of punishments.

In the face of such severe penalties, the only sensible response is to secure the most effective criminal defense you can to your charges.
